I am new to SCAL and inkscape. I feel like a BIG DUMMY...How do I download some really great files (from cleversomeday.com)?
I know that I am leaving out a step, somewhere in the process...I am trying to download the 09kutups. I just keep going round and
round and have wasted 3 hours trying to figure this out. Thanks SOOO much

That is my blog and I will try to help, although I am a Mac user so I am somewhat limited when it comes to Windows issues. Mediafire is bad about reporting random problems when it is just busy. So if you are getting error messages you might just have to try again later. It can also be confusing about where to click, especially if you are getting popups. If you are not familiar with downloading in general, then it is possible that you have downloaded it already and just don't know where to find it.
Here's how it should work. Once you click on the word "here" on my blog post and go to the mediafire page, the download link is on the left hand side of the page where it says "click here to start download." Once you click that the results/steps will vary depending on your browser. You will either have downloaded the file automatically to a default location, or get a dialog box asking whether you want to save or open.
If none of that helps, you may want to post your symptoms here and see if some of the download gurus can help us out.

it depends on where you are having problems. I download by cliking on the shared file and clicking "save as" and save all my svgs to a folder called SVG's on my desktop....that way I know exactly where to find it. Kay's kutups is actually a font, which I downloaded to a seperate folder on my desktop called "my fonts". Once you have the font on your computer, double click on it so it is open, and you can then use it in inkscape by going to the text menu and setting this font as default, or use it directly in SCAL under their font menu.

I found the link ok. I usually save the font in another folder I call hpfonts then I usually put all fonts in my windows font folder by double clicking to make sure everything looks good then after drag and drop to the windows font, but this time when I double click to make sure everything looks good all I get is a pdf file, not a ttf. I am concerned that a pdf file in this folder might cause trouble later on. I also tried sunnyNP suggestion and mine doesn't show up in Inkscape or Scal. Could it be because I'm running Vista?

There are 2 links. 1 is for a pdf cheat sheet and 1 is for the ttf font. You just clicked on the wrong one. It won't hurt anything to have a pdf file in the fonts folder, though. Your computer can tell the difference.
I took the first poster to mean they could not download a file at all. I hope they will repost and tell us what exactly the problem is, what OS, etc.

Got them loaded, and they are just wonderful, thanks for all your hard work.

hi, I'm having trouble downloading the font 09kutups, I've been downloading fonts for years and can't understand why it doesn't work . When i download it, it downloads but the folder is empty and when i check the the file and press open it comes up empty too. Is there anyone that can email me their files so i can download it that way. Thanks Miriam
