teeny outlines?

Bear with me...I'm clueless and confused...I found a pic of a hibiscus flower. I traced the bitmap, saved it as svg and went to cut it in scal...there was a teeny outline around the whole thing. What do I need to do to have it just be solid pieces. Also, is there a way to connect the pieces if there are gaps so it's one piece? I really really need a tutor...I've looked at some tutorials but they aren't specific to my questions. Someone help!Thx

Select your traced image
Using the node tool, drag nodes or lines until they overlap
From the Menu Path/Union.
If you have double lines, select your image
Path/Break apart
View in outline mode
Delete the extra lines.
Sorry I can't be more specific without knowing what the image looks like. If you need more help, post a link to the original image.
