My first project - LOTR glass etching

I just got my Cricut about a month ago and was really excitied to find SCAL a week later. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and my living room is decorated in it. I purchased my coffee table (years ago) with the plan in mind to somehow figure out how to etch the one ring inscription on it. It took me four years to finally get it on there but I could not be more pleased with my first attempt at Inkscape, SCAL & Cricut!

The whole project took me a couple of hours total to complete and the hardest part was the task of making sure I removed the parts that needed removing and left the parts that were important!

Thanks to the folks at SCAL for your product and freeing me to design what ever my heart desires!! (My husband thinks you may have unleased a monster!!! ROFL)

This is my templete cut out of viny, transfer tape applied and then placed.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I smile everytime I walk into my living room!

Welcome to the board. Your table looks great! I feel the same way after I cut a bunch of vinyl for the walls in my living room. I can't help but smile when I look at them.

Thanks Talanhart!! I've been lurking for about a week but just had to join and show you guys my table. I really surprised myself with it. I didn't expect it to turn out as well as it did being that it was my first project. My mind just started turning with the things I could do!! LOL

I've seen some of the SVGs that you've posted, great work!!

Awww Theresa just do like I do and jump in feet first!! LOL I figured that if I messed it up too bad then I would just frost the whole darn thing! ROFL At least then it wouldn't show smudges as bad!

Bad thing is now anything in my house with a glass surface is in danger!!! I am thinking of doing the scene from the mines of moria (gandalf standing at the stone doorway trying to open it) on the huge 1/2 round over my doorway!!! Only thing is if we decide to sell this house the next buyer is stuck with it!!

Someone asked if I could post the .scut file that I used so here it is :D

I can't seem to find the svg file for it but I will post the image that I used to make it. If someone needs the svg file I will be happy to recreate it, just let me know!

I just took this image into Paint Shop Pro and erased what I didn't want, then took the image into Inkscape and made the svg.
