Wanting To Make Stamps with rubber sheets- don't want to use

Cricut sheets. They are too expensive. Has anyone used thin silicone sheets, and if so, how did your project come out? I ordered some silicone rubber sheets from a couple manufacturers her in the U.S. but won't know if they work or not till next week. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sonya in TX

Hey Todd, (love your ideas and blogs BTW) I only ordered samples for now, so I won't have them till next week. But if they end up working, I will let everyone here know. I actually have a small home business and want to expand my crafts but am hoping these sheets work, I can't see spending $7 thru Cricut on two small pieces of rubber stamp sheeting. The only drawback, is that these are not self-adhesive, I will have to spray adhesive on them to stick them on my acrylic blocks.

Keep you posted.

I am asking where, because I work with silicone rubber everyday and what we use doesn't work as a stamp. It won't hold the ink. I'm thinking you want natural rubber sheets. I could be wrong, because I do see stamps made out of some kind of rubber that is clear at Michaels etc. This could be a silicone rubber different from what we use.

I got some stamp material for scrapbookdiecutter.com but it was expensive, too. I haven't tried it yet. I also have some red rubber sheets I am going to try to cut when I get around to it. I found a source for small quantities of all kinds of stuff, but it isn' t much help since I really don't know what it is we need. smallparts.com. They also work through amazon so if you have amazon prime you get free shipping.

OK, sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you. I got the samples, obviously these companies don't know the meaning of flexible thin rubber. I received the first piece on a keychain, and it was almost 1/4" thick. I threw it away. The second company I got a sample from was a little better, but the rubber is way expensive, moreso than the stamp rubber mentioned earlier. I have given up this venture. I don't do any rubber stamping myself, but thought it would be an added bonus for the stamping community to offer personalized stamps at a reduced price. OH, well. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for everybody's interest.
