This is really cool, but I'm not sure what I am looking at. You etched stained glass...but how did you make the designs black?

I'm assuming that the black is where the glass is shiny, and the red is the etched. Colored glass is tricky to photograph and changes dramatically depending on how the light is used. Was this cathedral glass, opalescent, or streaky?

yes I have taken 20 picts to try and show what it actually looks like...this was just a piece Dad had and not sure what kind it was ...just a red that you can almost see threw...not streaky...tried a streaky that you couldn't see threw and it didn't turn out at all....the lighter color red is etched off part ...the darker is the regulare shiny red glass....
I do have some etching stained glass I am saving and just practicing on the other...any ideas about types of glass to try would be greatly appreciated..Judy

Did you try putting the light behind the glass and taking the picture without flash? I like to put my panels in the window and take the photos just with the natural light behind them. It sometimes also helps to have a darker, out of focus background if you have that kind of control with your camera. I've never photographed etched glass, but I assume it would photograph similar to opaque.
