CDS/SCAL - don't have a particular cartridge

I am an old dog trying to learn new tricks. If I use Cricut Design Studio to create a cut file, but I don't have the cartridge, is there a way to convert the file so that SCAL will be able to cut it on my Cricut?

Thanks for any help!

No apologies ... I wasn't thinking about legal aspects, silly me. Sorry about that!

I do have several cartridges, however. Is it legal to use an image from one of those and alter it by adding an image from an SVG file (using the weld feature)? How does one convert a cut file into an SVG file?

I do this sometimes because I have a Mac and can't weld the shapes on cartridges I own without resorting to this.
You can cut the file out of black paper and scan it, then autotrace it in Inkscape or if you have a screen shot of CDS you can autotrace that.
