Now that it's downloaded, I want to learn how to use it.
How did you learn to use it and what was the first thing you did to learn to use it?
Is there a step by step beginners video, how to, or blog that can take you through "lessons" on how to use this program?? I need it to be started from the very basics to more advanced.
Thanks for your help!

There are many lessons on the internet, but most are not specific to cutting. It depends on how you learn, but I do best when I set out to accomplish a specific task.
I would suggest looking at the master list of cricut video tutorials and sorting for beginner Inkscape tutorials.

There are also some good non-video tuts. A good place to start is on the Craft Edge website.

Susan Bluerobot has some very good tuts that are a little more advanced. Here is a link to one of her posts.

the first thing to learn is how to Trace Bitmap, clean it up by deleting nodes if necessary and saving as .svg.
That will take you far...

I watched the tutorials on the Craft Edge site, then went to Dan's and watched some of his

and SusanBlueRobot's too. After that it was just a matter of jumping in and playing around. If you get frustrated with it, take a break. Usually if there is a problem you are just missing one small but critical step and the break helps you see it.

Hi Karebear1
I used SusanBlueRobot's tutorial
http://susanbluerobot.blogspot.com/2008 ... -base.html
I just can't figure out how to keep it the same size when transferring from inkscape to scal it seems to shrink it which doesn't work for me to cut the fabric to my precise size! For anything else it has worked well.

In Inkscape, select all (control A). Look at the height box near the top middle of the window. In SCAL, set the default size in the library window to that height before you import the file. The other way to do it would be to leave the default alone, make sure the keep proportions box is checked in the properties window, and resize it there by either the width or the height.
