Can you convert any clip art image to an svg image? I can't create stuff myself but I saw this scrapbook software with 35,000 images and thought I wonder if I could convert those to svg images. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks,
Crystal

It depends on what you want. Silhouettes are generally pretty easy, but images with a lot of detail and shading usually take more work but can usually be done. Generally, the more cartoon or coloring book like, the better. HTH

Does anyone know where I can buy a disk with already formatted DVG images? I have tried to download a few but I wasn't able to download them. I do not know if it was my computer or something wrong with the site I was trying to download from.

Have you tried this website? http://www.clker.com/ Though I have found that the svg images there still usually take almost as much work as any other image. To download the svg files (at least with the browser I use) you right click on the svg portion below the image and select Save Link As.

If I wanted to use a digital image say from a digi kit and wanted to cut out something - a bear for example, can I import into inkscape, convert to an .svg and it will cut it? Thanks.

It depends on the image and how much time you want to spend on it. You can't just open it and then save as an svg. You have to make it into a vector graphic. I just did some dogs from photos. Here is the photo that I used and the file that I made.

Ahh Heather you may be able to help me then I replied on the other thread to your post

What I want to do is import a coloured digital image and have it cut around the edge only of it, but it picks up all the fine detailed edges of the different colours and shapes, is there a way around it so that I can get it to just cut out the edge? Thanks.

OMG Heather M! What you did with the dog is exactly what I wanted to learn how to do......I spent hours last night looking for a svg or other clipart of a german shepherd but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a photo of my dog and I can't figure out how to do what you did with your bearded collie.....PLEASE write a tutorial?!?
Thanks,
Sunny

Because the sheepdog was so woolly with no sharp lines, I used the bezier tool. It's actually very simple and fast to use. Try Susan Bluerobots tut here. http://susanbluerobot.blogspot.com/2008 ... found.html
