freezing on checking mat

Please help me. im new and I have a cricut personal and scal 2.. when I click cut, it keeps freezing on checking mat!!! ive done everything I can read to fix this and nothing works. I have updated the cricut. every once and a while it will cut then goes back to saying checking mat and freezing there.

I am having the same issue! I have tried for 2 hours to fix it. I had no problem the last time I used SCAL. I am not sure what the issue is. Hopefully someone on this forum can help.
My firmware is v 1.3
I updated the USB drivers
I tried a new USB cord
Nothing...

If you are using windows, make sure you have the latest driver,
which is currently this
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM ... tified.exe
And you are using the latest SCAL 2.044
