Gazelle acting weird with SCAL 3

Hello,
I just got a Gazelle and since I have a MAC I'm running SCAL 3. Everything is going pretty well except for two things.
1. Between cutting files I lose connection to the the Gazelle. I get a window that tells me to turn off the cutter, unplug the cutter, and unplug the USB from the computer. Wait 10 second then plug everything back in. This works but is annoying have to do it each time I want to send a file to cut.
2. Randomly in the middle of cutting an object the cutter will just start cutting a straight line, some times it's just a horizontal cut, but once it was a 45' cut traveling across the page destroying shapes that have already been cut. Not a good thing.
This is my first file so I don't know if this happens with other files.
I'm trying to figure out if this is a Mac thing (I'm running 10.7), a Gazelle thing, a SCAL 3 thing or, with my luck all three.
Thanks for your help,
Nancy
