Is there any way to make a clip art .jpg into an svg file to cut? I am trying to do this with a picture of Snow White I got off the internet. I would like to paper piece it after cutting. Is this possible? I am really new to all of this so if this is a stupied question I'm sorry.
Thanks
kate

This is possible.
Find the tutorials that teach you how to trace a bitmap (or jpeg).
After tracing, goto path, then break apart.
Click on each of the various components and save them individually.
Then follow the instructions in the thread called sizing started by susibi that will tell you how to import the individual components into scal so that each component is proportionate to the whole in size.

follow what Donna Lee suggested, but keep in mind that tracing in inkscape is not as cut & dry as most think.
detailed images or images with a lot of color won't trace to look exactly like the clipart image using the auto trace function. It takes a bit of work using the program to get a perfect tracing for a very detailed image.
a black image traces best. black & white are somewhat easy as well.
anything is possible in inkscape--you just have to work at it if the image is not simple enough.

I have had some luck altering my original image into black and white using the photo software I have. That helps Inkscape trace. It might help with an overall outline of the image to get your base...that is, if you have problems getting it from color.
