Thanks for asking and the comments.. and thanks for the encouragement papasue. Sorry, I didn't explain this in my post. This is an image of my favorite Nativity stamp. I stamped the image. The image wasn't defined enough to work with so I took a fine marker and redid it in black. Then scanned it and saved it as a jpeg image. Then imported it into Inkscape. Changed to outline mode, did the trace bitmap, deleted the red x and then put in view Normal mode and then saved as a svg. There are tutorials on doing this. When I cut it out the halos didn't cut right so I just cut them off of Joseph and Mary. I want to remove them from the svg image I have so I need to work on that. I can't share the file because of copyright. But this does show how you can take a stamped image and convert it in Inkscape and Make a svg. Here is my stamped image.

great job. i could never alter such. for those like me unable to alter, there is a dingbat somewhat like that. i got mine at dafonts.com - Christmas - title = SLCHRISTMAS. yes it is free.
i totally understand the copy right issue.
