Working in SCAL on Android Tablet?
Re: Working in SCAL on Android Tablet?
I would like to know about this also.
Shoot...the tablets are expensive...do you have to pay for internet connection separate with those? I always wanted one and I love my laptop by that brand.

I use pocket cloud it is a remote connection to the desktop at home you download the pocket cloud to the desktop set a access password and then make the connection availible then on your tablet you download and enter you acess password anything on your desktop you will have access to aslong as you have the desktop on at home and as long as you can get a wi fi connection.
gj1 the acer ,toshiba, and many of the tablets you can connect into your home wi fi when it is in range or any number of free wifi hot sposts while you are out and about, many do not have a set connection unless you purchase one from a cell company or thru another that offers internet connections.
I have a toshiba thrive and hubby has a acer both 10 inch

OMG thanks sooo much Rachell. I did as you told me and I am a very happy camper.
I had dropbox on my laptop and tablet both and thought I should be able to do it thru that but I guess that it won't accept programs, just documents and photos, anyway pocketcloud did the trick and the best part it is FREE. gj1 I did as Rachell posted and worked like a charm. Well I am off to work, or as I say play.
Thanks again.

Thanks again.

This is the response from CE on this question.
"Desktop applications will not run on tablets unless there are specifically written for them from scratch or ported over.
So SCAL in its current state will not run on a tablet."
But am I hearing you say you found a way for it to work on a tablet? That is interesting.
My only other question is on accessing your personal computer from an outside open Wi-Fi system is what I think you are saying....I wouldn't want my personal computer at home that open on a public Wi-Fi setup.

techically it is not open on the public wifi because you have to know your password to access it. when your tablet is connected to a wifi then you click on the icon for the pocket cloud you then can see your computer if you have it availible then you have to type in the matching password that you set up on you home computer if you don't get it right you can't connect.
Re: Working in SCAL on Android Tablet?
you guys got me thinking here.
I did a shop search in my acer iconia 500 and if you search for svg, several free options come up. if you search for inkscape there is one "infinite designer that pop up. there is a free version and a $2.99 version. I think that we can create something and then email it to ourselves, thus eliminating the need of a cloud. Another one is Vector Draw Beta which is free too.
i quicky tried infinite designer and seems more for actual drawing. the second seems more like we need, but it will require some learning.
i also asked a friend to check the ipad and she only found one app: Quill. $0.99 and it is still developing. average score is 3. More come when searching under "svg," but most you have to paid.
I don't know how well they work.
