Monogramming candles with Vinyl

Has anyone tried this?

I've seen some great ones on Etsy, but when I tried to just stick a test piece to a candle I had here at home, it wouldn't stick AT ALL.

So, is there a special trick? Is there a certain type of candle I need to get? Maybe some sort of prep layer to paint onto the candle?

I really want to do these for teacher gifts this year, so any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Ashley

I haven't made any yet. I love the look too. I wonder if you heated the vinyl a little with a heat gun if that would help it stick to the wax? just an idea....good luck! :)

i have done this. i don't remember doing anything special to make it stick except rubbing it with my finger. I gave them as a gift and they still look good when i see them. She won't burn them :?

Maybe I just tried it on an especially waxy candle. Next time I'm in a store with candles, I'll grab a few that feel more solid and not quite as soft.

Anyone else have any ideas? Like maybe where you got your candles so I know what kind to look for?

Thanks!

Most of these candles I have seen are made with printed on tissue paper, and using a blow dryer of sorts to warm the wax and the tissue paper settles in

Flameless candles are the way to go if you wish to use vinyl. :) Michelle
