How to insert an image

Hi I found a dingbat i like, and downloaded it. from dafont. Followed all instructions and installed it. How do I insert that dingbat in my inkscape project. All i get is the fonts not the actual image. Do i have to click on a ctrl setting. Thanks

I found if I have the font saved under Windows - Fonts then Inkscape with pick it up - if I have it saved somewhere else it wont.
That is in XP.

Once again I have to refer you to Susan Bluerobots blog. She covers this in one of her lessons. I think I am one of her biggest fans. She is awesome.
