Silhouette Machines and SVGs?

Hi,
My friend recently bought a Silhouette and she said it only takes GSD files. I have no idea how to convert SVG to GSD files... anybody out there have a (free) cheap way to do that? I was thinking once I learn how to convert those, I can have both SVG and GSD files on my blog.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The silhouette software uses gsd files. If I remember correctly, it will import dxf files (I think that's right). If you have inkscape, you can open the svgs there and then save them as dxf. Open them in the silhouette software and save as gsd. But sometimes they don't import perfectly, it just depends on the file.

Anyone can download the silhouette software from silhouetteamerica.com/support.

I am unaware of a way to convert svgs to gsds directly.

If she has SCAL 3, she can use that instead of the silhouette software and use svgs.

looks like there's a way to convert via inkscape by opening svg and saving as dxf -- if you don't already use SCAL 3 or MTC
