Hi

Has anyone done a scrapbook layout and laminated it?
If so how did it come out? I am thinking of doing a layout and want to protect the photos but not use the traditional album pockets where the pages can fall out or be taken out so thought I might laminate them if that works well.

I use Creative Memories photo albums and pages with the protective sleeves. They work great. I don't know about laminating them, I don't think I'd want anything sticking to my photos.

I have only laminated a photo once. Used a lamination cart with my Xyron and the photo had bubbles on it...never used it again. I have also used the 8X11 laminate sheets and had only minor problems...you have to be very careful. I used a squeegee with the full sheets to remove the air bubbles as I went along.

I don't think laminate sheets are acid free either.

I am not worried about the acid free issue as these will be scans of photos and not something that will get pased down from generation to generation - it is a gift for someone.
However I was concerned about how well he laminating would work around the raised objects like titles and the photos and any mats etc I built on the page. I know laminating can work fine on a flat piece of paper but I think it might leave pockets around the raised objects so I might give that idea away and look at some other way of making this project.
So thanks for helping me get my ideas straight.

Yes, you probably would end up with air pockets around raised things.

I laminate quite often. As long as you are using a heat laminator, you shouldn't have any bubbles or anything. you may have to send it through twice to get a good seal...that is what I do. It just helps it along a little where you have the different levels of thickness.
