As the title really - I've been wanting a cutting machine for a while and was thinking of the robo but then found out about sure cuts a lot for the cricut which seems to allow you to do much the same? What are your opinions on these? These are the pros and cons as I see it so far.

Cricut:

pros: cartridges - good for quick cards, ready designed, some are really cute
can cut any designs you make using SCAL
cons: more expensive buy ~£50 + cost of SCAL
would need to get from America to get good price so would lose warranty

Craft robo:

pros: from UK so get good warranty
better understood?
cons: no cartridges
smaller cutting size

I really don't know :S Any opinions or advice?

Thanks.

Hi. I can only give you my personal opinion. After a little bit of research on all of the cutting machines, I decided to go with the Cricut Expressions AFTER learning about SCAL. I did not want to have to purchase any additional cartridges (which I HAVE NOT, but the option is always nice). The Cricut is easy to use and it's not computer dependent. You can buy the cartridges if that's your desire to do so. I like the flexibility it provides. I had read there were some learning curves with the other cutters and they too are costly.

Here's a link of a comparison chart that was posted at paperthreads.com. Most likely some of the info has changed a bit (I haven't look at it in awhile), but it will give you a general idea.

Good luck.

i l have both machines and to be honest the cricut comes out on top as you can cut much thicker ccard with cricut the robo tends to be more temperamental as to thichness of card the robo will only cut to 220gsm and sometimes not even that l sometimes struggle at 200gsm card there is also quite a learning curve with robo where you could plug in cricut and cut straight aweay no hasstle l also have scall and more and more designs are being made free for to cut with robo hope this helps

Very very very happy with my expression, I thought i would use SCAL a fair bit, but the carts are so easy and you can get them pretty cheap if you keep looking. Love the expression and scal
