Hi, I had updated my cricut design studio with the latest up date, only to find out that my sure cuts a lot would not work. Because to use my design program I had to up date the firm wear on my cricut. After doing a panic and reading some of these threads , I tried to get the old DS version so that I could change the firm wear on my cricut. After having no luck . I had a thought !!! Why not just re install my original DS from the CD.
I did this, put it in a file ( Use only for SCAL) re did the cricut firm wear and BINGO I can now use SCAL.

It's going to be a pain changeing between firm wear all the time but at least I still have both programs that are useable.

I think I'll try to save up what I want to cut with each program so that I'm not changeing firm wear every day!!

I sure hope a SCAL up date comes out very soon all the same. As it couldn't be good for the cricut machines all this swapping of firm wear. :(

Why can't you install on top of it, or uninstall it and install the older one?

Try installing CDS from your disk but name it CDS2 - that way you can have 2 versions of CDS on your PC. When you open CDS2 it will tell you to update your firmware (you will actually be downgrading it to the earlier version). Once you do that, both CDS2 and SCAL will work. If you open CDS (without the 2), it will ask you to update the firmware. I have an old and new version of CDS on my PC and I mostly use the old version so I don't waste time going between CDS and SCAL. However, I do use my newer version of CDS because I own some of the newer cartridges. It's a bit of a pain, but it works until SCAL is fixed (which I hope is SOON!).

If you need help, PM me.

PS - I got this info from someone on the Cricut Message Board.
