Importing a PDF in Inkscape

I am attempting to import a pdf file into Inkscape to then bring into SCAL and I keep getting an error message that shuts the entire program down.

The message is:

"Inkscape encountered an internal error and will close."

I have tried re-installing the program to no avail. Additionally, I have searched as many places as I can possibly think without finding any problems with the importing of pdf files. Can anyone help?

Ben

I had that happen to me a few times. I sorta guess it was because the file was too large for Inkscape to handle (too many nodes). So I now open the pdf's in Corel or Photoshop and save as a jpg and then into Inkscape. HTH

I find pdf files to be too much trouble. I have to create pdf files when using gsd converts but I always save them to a bitmap and then open in INK. They definitely have a lot of nodes, don't Union/Combine...just all around pain.

I would try making the pdf a bitmap even if you have to use File>Export Bitmap in INK. It is more steps but I find more efficient.

LeHighGal,

Thanks for the advice, I did discover that the file was password protected ... eventually I was able to save as jpg and open the way you suggested. Again, thanks!
