Hi can anyone tell me I have a fault with my machine please.
Symptons
As the bottom door opens out so you have full view of machine there is a grey stripe located just under the blade housing, then next to that nearest to you there is a cream stripe now half way accross that stripe I have a ridge it is not sitting as the other half and when I use for cutting the mat goes through to the cut edge of mat and then gets stuck trying to come back out and makes a pigs ear of my cutting.
I hope this makes sense and hope some one can answer that.

I would say you have a defective machine.. could you return it from where you purchased it..

Are you sure this is not the tape strips. Sometimes companies put strips of tape across parts of a machine that should not move during shipment. In other words, if there was no tape across the blade housing, the head would move and possibly get misaligned. If you have ever unpacked a printer, it is the same principal. The tapes keep parts from moving.

On my E there is a cream plastic strip and a silver strip in front of it...the width of the mat, under the blade housing location.
They are both cracking down the middle and I have put electrical tape over the cracks.
I could hear them scratching the mat.
My machine is not new though. The tape has smoothed the area again.
Sounds like this might be what you are speaking of. I had to look with magnifiers to see what was causing the scratching sound.

gj1 - the same thing is happening to mine. Also, the other day I didn't notice that one of the designs in the file extended past the 12x12 mat, and the mat size was set at 12x24. It moved the mat all the way to the back of the machine and started to cut on one of those strips!

It really nicked the strip.

Thanks for your reply but sadly it's not tape it's part of the machine, you could say it's slopping on one side

If the machine is relatively new, I would take it back to the store where it was purchased for a replacement.
