Request...Boise State Logo

Post by becciboo »

This is my first post so if it's not in the correct spot, please accept my apologies! I tried my darndest to make a svg of the boise state horse (not the text, just the horse) for my hubby and just can't get it right! I have only used SCAL to make svg's out of an image and so far have had wonderful results. I have no idea why this one isn't working for me! I have attached the photo.

I'm not sure if it matters but the goal is to cut the horse outline and then the stripes and whatnot as a second layer. I will actually be cutting it out of vinyl so I can make a stencil since hubby is painting a chair seat with this, using two colors. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it oh so much!

OMG I can't believe I sign on this morning and it's here! Thank you SO much! It's perfect!!! I can't believe it...I'm just amazed by this forum!

Did you use inkscape to trace or SCAL? If you used inkscape then I'll have to look up how to do it for next time. If you used SCAL will you tell me how you did it?? LOL! I couldn't get the lines to be straight and connected. It was just a mess of dots and little unconnected lines. And I'm not good enough with nodes to clean it up.

Thanks again!!

I used inkscape. I use it pretty much for everything, I don't really ever do any tracing in scal as I get much better results in ink. In ink, I just adjusted the threshold to get the orange layer. So basically, I traced it twice. Once at the .45 setting that it's set to to get the blue layer and then I traced it again but I increased the threashold to .80 to get the orange layer. There are lots of great tuts on ink if you think you might want to delve into it. Hope this helped! Have a great day :D
