I wasted 2 good sheets of vinyl last night because of a dull blade, then the Cub Scout Mom in me got to thinking....I just took an emery board and using the less rough side carefully followed the angle of the blade. Don't Press too hard and don't go against the blade-- always away from it-- like a knife! I hope it works for you too!

UPDATE!
OK... I just realized that it may take a smidgen off the length of the blade so you may have to adjust depth a bit.

I know this sounds goofy, but I tried it and it worked for me. Awhile back I saw where you can sharpen your scissors by cutting aluminum foil, well, I took the blade out of my Cricut and poked it several times through aluminum foil. I have made lots of things with the same blade!

I do the tin foil trick too. I have a different adaption. I make circles, straight lines, squares in SCAL and save it as a file. I use a piece of heavy duty tin foil, lay it down on the mat and cut using my design files. My blades are really sharp. I learned this trick when I bought my first die cutter, Wishblade, several years ago.

I've never tried this with foil, but I did do something similar without realizing. I have some really cool Gold Vinyl, but it's not really vinyl, its metal with an adhesive backing. I was really worried that when I cut it, it would dull my blade, but it actually made the blade sharper. After I cut this vinyl, I had to cut some Bazzil and I was surprised at how well it cut. I had my file set for muli-cut, but it cut through the first time and it was a very clean cut. I guess it's the same principle as using a Steel on a Knife.
