Hello Everyone!
I found an image that i liked online, saved it as a .gif, imported into Inkscape, traced path and broke appart.... however, during this process some of the lines that were very close together 'joined' and created a larger piece. So now I need to further break the pieces up... I'm pretty sure that can be done but not sure how?
Hoping someone can help me figure this out?
Here is an image of what I'm trying to explain AND how can you add Bezier Handles to a node that doesn't have any or only one?

Re: need help with "break path at selected nodes"
Looking at what you have posted, you might want to redraw the file with the pen tool. Where did you find the original?

The easiest way to do that is to use the 'eraser' tool.
Here's my video on how

If it doesn't erase than you need to do a path/union on the piece first.
If you want to post the svg file I can do the erase for you, but try the video and see if you can DIY.

I can't remember exactly where I found it the first time but here is a similar one: http://www.flourconfections.ca/shop/images/C005.jpgcloetzu wrote:talanhart wrote:... Where did you find the original?

Re: need help with "break path at selected nodes"
This worked but I got some jagged edges and when I looked at the nodes to fix them I noticed a TON of new nodes along the line ... I can undertand that but now I need to delete a bunch of them to create a more smoothed line... any way to delete a bunch at once?papasue wrote:The easiest way to do that is to use the 'eraser' tool......
Re: need help with "break path at selected nodes"
Yes, you do a path/simplify on the whole image. If that "wonks" the image than UNDO and select only the area where you have too many. You click on the node tool and draw around the bunch and then do a path/simplify.
Keep at it you are doing fine.

Re: need help with "break path at selected nodes"
the 'path/simplify' worked! I learned 2 new things today! THANKS!!!!!!papasue wrote:Yes, you do a path/simplify on the whole image. If that "wonks" the image than UNDO and select only the area where you have too many. You click on the node tool and draw around the bunch and then do a path/simplify.

Re: need help with "break path at selected nodes"
Thanks for letting me know that all worked for you. I'd so much rather "help" someone DIY than just give away files and you made my day today!
