Craft Edge

I have followed the directions posted and am unable to proceed. steps that I used
1. open new landscape
2. view mode outline
3 text, size default close (this is where I am runing into a problem) nothing happens when I click on the canvas to type my text.

Just open Inkscape (don't use the outline mode just yet),
Click on the A on the icon bar down the left side and you should get a flashing cursor
Start typing text
