I created a video tutorial on how to make a Welded Word using Inkscape. You can then import the SVG file into Sure Cuts A Lot to cut with your Cricut.

Check out my blog to watch it!

Just out of curiousity why would you not do this directly with SCAL?

Hi! :) Thank you for asking. I actually have a two fold purpose for using Inkscape. First, I have SCAL Version 1. I have yet to upgrade. I know (gasp)! Even so, I know there are a lot of crafters who still use it also so I am doing what I can to teach with what I have. :) Second, my SCAL freezes up like crazy. All I have to do is move one letter to another place on my screen and if I hold the letter too long SCAL freezes. I have done A LOT to try and correct it. But, I figure I am on an older laptop, plus using Windows 7 plus I really need to upgrade to SCAL 2 so... it's a mixture of things that makes my SCAL freeze...I guess.:) I know you can make welded words using SCAL a lot easier, but I haven't been able to make them without my computer freezing up. I know...time for an upgrade...soon! Now that my kids are settled into school and sports I can focus on me again. :) I also love to learn new things and Inkscape is more difficult for me to grasp so being able to learn a skill and share it is an awesome feeling. If no one ever learns from this video, then I know I did. :) Thank you again for asking and I hope you have a super day!
