Cutting a very large file?

Hello all:

I have a lamp post that I want to cut out that is much longer than my mat (11.5 by 51 inches). Is there a way to do this (other than cutting a number of mats and taping them all together)? I tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for. I know I've seen other posts where people have made some very large images, I am just not sure exactly how they went about it. Thank you in advance for everyone's help!!

This method works better on items where you don't have to worry about seams, so you might get a better answer than this but this is how I did it. I made multiple copies of my image and then made mulitple layers (or pages) for my image, it looks like you may only need two or three layers to get your lamp post done.

I put the top of the image on the first layer, then on the second layer I used the x & Y boxes in the properties box, to move my image to the middle part, then on the third layer I again used the X & Y to move to the bottom part of the image. I'm not really good with math so I just played around with the numbers and I overlapped each image a little so that I could use the over lap to get everything lined up on my transfer tape.

I hope this helps.
