Please help...what am I doing wrong?

I have attached my picture file that I am trying to convert and then the svg I created. When I open it up in SCAL 2 it doesn't turn out right...please help! Thank you.

Hi Amy...I have scal1 so I'll show what I got when I tried to bring your file in. The first attempt gave me an empty box so I took it into Inscape (since I can't edit in scal1)...after ungrouping 22 elements in Inkscape the first image shows several layers when I opened it in scal. So I went back to Ink and used Union to join all the elements but the second image showed another element I couldn't see...so I went back again, moved the main image and found the background piece which I deleted so the bottom image (on the scal mat) shows what I have left, which is a great image, by the way!
