Hi, I loved these little roses, when I try to cut them out, the blade scores across when finishing, when I take it off the mat it is in three pieces, I have tried changing the depth of my blade, but as long as it is cutting the shape of the flower it cuts along the score. Is there anything I can do to stop this.

Do you have the full purchased version of SCAL or trial.. In the trial mode it cuts a line into the image...

You need SCAL2 and you also must keep the file away from the edge of the cutting boundary since this is an open path. After you position the file, try preview (single magnifying glass) to make sure that SCAL isn't closing the cut. HTH

What version of SCAL2 do you have? The ability to cut open curves wasn't added until later (I"M guessing about 2.010). Also, the file can't even be touching the dotted boundary. When I cut open paths I usually use the alignment tools and then nudge it away from the boundary. HTH is Hope That Helps.

my version of SCAL is version 2.005. I have the image well away from the boundary. the extra line that is being cut comes from where the middle of the flower stops back up to where it starts. Sorry if I appear to be a bit dumb

I think that the only way you can cut that pattern with 2.005 is to open the file in inkscape, select the vector, then from the menu use Path/Stroke to path. That will create a closed shape for you.
The other option is to update your SCAL to 2.012.

Hi again, I have downloaded the scal version 2.012, I was not aware that I could do this and it has solved my problem, thank you so much Heather for your kind support and also thanks to butterfly for sharing this lovely little rose file. You never know if I can learn a bit more about all these files and cuts I may be able to share some files some day
