If you can get them to open in inkscape they can....I have some that won't open in inkscape so I put them into a text box in PSE5 and then was able to open them in IS...Then do the fixing...

Thanks Shirl. I did get the font into inkscape.. It is Tropicana. I tried to fix the guitar and the pineaple by separating and getting rid of the extra inside lines but nothing worked. By nothing I mean ungroup or break apart.. I did follow steps given in a tutorial.. I will try again on a different dingbat font..

In order to change a dingbat, you have to select it, Path>Object to Path. This will change it to a vector so you can change.

While selected, Path>Break Apart. Go to the outline view, View>Outline and you will be able to see the lines and should be able to separate them.

Thanks so much Annointed Hands. It worked.. Just what I needed to know. So now I can work with all these dingbats I have.. I did do the Hula dancing girl and it woked up to a point and would not separate any more. Part of her body arms and legs were double lines. I thought I remember seeing a post on this.. so maybe I need to go back and find it. Did it have something to do with filling the image in a color like black and then work with it.? Or maybe this is as far as it will go. I have learned so much from you and Jancy and sboz and Shirl and others.. ( I hope this proves to those that think they can't do it... YOu can because if I can learn it anyone can... ) You all deserve a big hand for being so willing to help and share.

ME?!?!?!?!? I'm the inkscape idiot, remember??? I'm new to this too! We're learning together! And with LOTS of help from all the above mentined people! I always try to find a silhouette that I can convert so I don't have to deal with the dreaded double line syndrome....
