I have been reluctant to install SCAL2 on my new Toshiba Windows 7 64 bit laptop due to all the posts about problems with 2.012 but this morning I finally decided to try it.

I am delighted as the installation went off without a hitch and it's cutting files without any problems.

Thought it might help new Windows 7 users if I posted the steps of how I installed the program:

Turned off McAfee virus software program.

Installed the SCAL2 program from the CD.

Clicked Start, All Programs, Right clicked on SCAL2 program, then properties and changed it to run in XP Service pack 2 compatibility mode.

Activated SCAL2 from the program.

Downloaded and installed the latest 2.012 update from the Craft Edge forum.

Downloaded the USB drivers from the Craft Edge website. It's a zip file so they have to be extracted to be used.

Right click SCAL2 icon on my desktop and click on Run as administrator.

From the SCAL2 screen, clicked Help then clicked Install USB drivers.

Plugged in USB cord from Cricut to laptop USB port and turned on Cricut machine. (Made sure I had a cartridge in it.)

Opened SCUT2 file.

Clicked cut.

The SCAL2 program worked fine and cut the file without any problems.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been having some issues with mine, and after reading this I checked and I had set it to XP service pack 3. not sure why this made much of a difference, but so far it has solved all my problems. :)
