Okay, so once I import an image into inkscape, then what?

You will have to trace the file in order to import it into SCAL.

I just tried it out today, and had to go onto the Inkscape help to figure it out..

Open your file in inkscape
Select the image
Click on Path, Trace Bitmap
Click on OK on the window that opens

It won't look like anything happened to your image (it didn't on mine) but I saved it as an SVG file and imported it into SCAL and it worked!

If you want to SEE what will cut in inkscape just go to view>outline....Then you will be able to see the cut lines...
