I am trying to run SCAL 2.08 on my Windows XP, and it won't do anything. It just freezes up.
I went back to 2.07 for now.
Any suggestions?

Do you have Lib it up installed? There's been a few posts from members saying their computers take a long time to load SCAL2 or their computer freezes. They fixed the problem by removing the Lib it up files from SCAL.
If that isn't the cause, then I'm wondering if you are trying to load a defective SVG or SCUT file.
At what point does 2.008 freeze on your computer? Is it when you are loading the program or after it loads but when you try to import or open a file?
There's also been some posts that having too many fonts installed on your computer can cause SCAL2 to crash.
I've been using 2.008 and haven't had any problems so far.
