Re: Geting to know you....
I just got my program today, still learning to use it. LOL. I learned of SCAL from the Cricut MB as well. I have had my Expressions for a couple of months. haven't used it much, wanted to wait till i got SCAL. We will see what happens.

SCAL influenced me to by the Expression and sell my baby bug and all my font carts to do it! I love SCAL!!!! Thanks so much Todd- you're the best!!

Re: Geting to know you....
Hi everyone - I guess I'm the odd man out here... I'm DaveP in NE Ohio.
I bought a possesed Cricut Personal off of eBay a week ago, but couldn't get it to update the firmware correctly, so I'm waiting for a return address to send it back as it had a unconditional satisfaction guarantee.
Then a fellow member offered me a great deal on another Personal unit, and I came so close... and then in a weak moment I bit the bullet and bought an new Expression off of eBay. So now I'm waiting to ship my little bug back and get my big bug here so I can get my SCAL and get to work cutting. I will probably be doing mostly vinyl and possibly t-shirt transfer material.
I stumbled on SCAL while looking on Google for the original Wishblade software that I had downloaded and played with on the screen a few times, thinking that I would look towards a Wishblade or a Roland before the Cricut got connected. (Personally I never bought the story that the USB wasn't for anything and it was just put there... as an electronics hobbiest I know if there is a port on something, SOMEONE has played around and made it work, it doesn't just get put there!)
Outside of the Cricut world, I am a Systems Support Specialist for our hospital, enjoy motorcycling, slot car racing, classic arcade gaming, classic cars, and have a 100% electric car that will be getting new vinyl to replace its' faded 28 year old trim courtesy of the Cricut. I like to tinker with gadgets and help out some in the garden.
Lots of other potentially boring stuff, which I'm sure will come out over time!
I'm full of useless trivia too...

I am Robin, in Memphis, TN. I saw a blurb on a blog about "black market Cricut cartridges" and from that I realized that the cartridges COULD be hacked. A few Google searches later I found the SCaL web site. Up until that point, the only thing keeping me from buying a Cricut was the expensive cartridges!
edited to add: I have an expression and I use it only for scrapping. I am not smart enough to use it for anything else at this point

Hi, I’m Sandra from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia – and I have no idea what I’m doing!
I have never scrapooked (if that’s the right word) before and couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about until I stumbled across somebody’s work quite by accident. This was a few weeks ago now and I’ve been researching ever since, that's how I ended up here. I’m most relaxed while being crafty and I’m inspired and motivated the more I see and read. And, I’ve got 3 little girls and countless photos just sitting in my computer. I’ve got lots…and lots of questions so when I get back from holidays in a week I’m sure you’ll see me on here asking many potentially stupid ones.
From what I’ve read, I should start big and buy the cricut expression machine (US eBay because they are so expensive here), scal and design studio – in the hope to cut out some of the unnecessary expense, although I could be way off the mark. Now I just have to convince my husband….
I’m really glad I found this place!
