The Gypsy can't acccept George, because the Cartridge is Blank. George and Basic shapes is already programmed into the Cricuts and all the cart does is connect 3 pins and activates the information that is already in the machine. Check out this post.

I laugh when they say this.. guess it will ONLY stop some people.

I -

Own ONE cartidge
Do NOT buy cartidges
Will NEVER buy a gypsy
Will NEVER buy another cartidge
See most cartridge images online as svg files

So they'd have to block SCAL some other way for people like me.. and I know many who are like me who don't own carts or gypsy's
Lots of cute, paper piecing files on my blog - all free!

Love my original SCAL =)

I know that I won't be investing in the Gypsy, for one I have a laptop with a 16" screen, the screen on the Gypsy is way to small. Also, I live in Canada and the cost of the Gypsy here is way too high, I know I can use my money much more wisely. I have SCAL and once I figure it out I know I will be able to create anything I would ever want.

Hi all,

I just joined and don't own an Expression or SCAL.....yet. Was going to get it at Walmart today, but it turned out their ad was just a scam. I'll either get it from Jo-Ann's or Amazon.

I am a graphics professional. I wouldn't even have considered getting this machine if this software wasn't available. I want to get an in-expensive machine (compared to Roland, Gerber or Stahls) to see if my design ideas will fly.

I just bought the Gypsy last night.

I also have about 12 carts for the Cricut.

I also have SCAL.

I like both so far. Both have flexibility that the other does not.

@CADChick - Why was the Walmart ad a scam? I was ready to get up this morning and get it - I want to believe I made the right decision by not going haha!

I bought a Cricut Expressions at cricutmachine.com JUST NOW! :) Let the fun begin :)

I'm so sorry you couldn't find them at Walmart. Ours had them and even when you visited the WalMart website it gave a map of the store where to find them. So Sorry. I did however buy two personal Cricuts for 69.99 for my daughters in law from Michaels about 30 minutes from here. I wish my budjet would allow me to buy the Expression Cricut, but couldn't this year.

Just bought the machine at Jo-Anns Fabrics. As for my experience with Walmart, I went to 3 stores in the Chicago area this morning and not only didn't they have them.....they never had them. I asked customer service at all 3 stores. That's a scam.....when something is advertised and no inventory ever existed at the stores. I walked out of all 3 without so much as a pack of gum. Between practices, such as these, and their labor record, I won't spend any money at Walmart.....ever.

anyway, I now have the machine and can spend the weekend playing.
