I am still working with firmware 2.1 as I don't use Design studio. No automatic update.

Hehehe I'm with you on this one, sounds fairly familiar to my ears also....."Scare Tactics" Provocraft obviously have huge issues, as they are losing their monopoly in the market, perhaps they should have listened to what customers want instead of dictating how their machine may be used  I wouldn't have even bothered buying a Cricut if I hadn't heard of SCAL beforehand lol

Just check your firmware version.
What is CHA and what did they say? Did they say the words "well will block SCAL with the new firmware"? Or, are they just updating the firmware which may or may not affect SCAL at all?

CHA? sometimes people forget that this is an International board.
Who said and what exactly was said? I think that people shoud be very careful passing on info,it causes a great deal of concern to some SCAL uses that maybe new and not up on things....... + it may also loose customers for SCAL

Only my observations :D

To be honest, I would expect an update for CDS after the next lot of new carts are released, HOWEVER, it seemed to take them several months after the last lot to be updated, and given the next bunch are not due to be released until JUNE 2009, I honestly wouldn't HOLD my breath for the next update! I doubt they would have it out much before October, as they just don't seem to be that organised!!

The only reason anyone would need to update, or want to, is if they wanted to have the new carts show on CDS or maybe new features to use with CDS. I don't plan on buying and of the new cartridges that are coming out. I am not impressed with any of them. I did do the last update .. just because I have CDS and wanted the new features but I have not used them. I wonder also if this is just scare tatics to keep others from buying SCAL.

I don't use DS and I don't update till Todd tells us too and then sometimes I don't. As long as I can use SCAL with it my Cricut I'm ok... I haven't used but 2 of my carts and they are the old ones. I got a email about this this am also...

Everything is fine. I don't know who this Ellen5 is but the only posts she has are in this topic and she only has 5 total. Seems like someone is only here to cause trouble.

Just my observations, obviously I'm new too and don't have many posts but I'm not on here saying the whole SCAL world is going to be crashing.......

I was not trying to cause trouble just want everybody to be aware that what has happend in the past could happen again.
No need to update your firmware if you don't use DS. But if you use both, you should be carefull.
I don't want anybody to loose the use of SCAL because they updated before Todd has had the time to fix it, again.
I love SCAL and I only wanted to pass true what I have heard.
The current update is still OK. 2.32.
