On Windows XP press Alt+PrintScrn to get just the selected window - PrintScrn alone will get the entire desktop. Then paste it into a graphic program to save it (Inkscape for instance). There is also a software program that I love called SnagIt. You can even use it to make Training Videos - so if you are showing something on the screen - like Dan does - you don't have to set up a video camera - just record the movements and talk into a microphone. Of course, SnagIt isn't free - although I think they might have a pared-down free version or demo version.
