okay, this is probably gonna sound stupid but......... how do I just put ONE of these designs on a mat? Do I just increase the size until only the one I want is showing?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can either do that or use Inkscape to separate them. :)

Thanks! I have no clue about Inkscape so I guess I'll add that to my list of things to learn LOL!!

I just imported the curly mat after separating the squares and it does not look like it will cut well in SCAL. When I import it and click on the magnifying glass, not all of the swirls are in red. I've tried object to path in Inkscape but that doesn't work. Any ideas on how to make it work in SCAL? Thanks!

There is a double layer of shapes on this one. Open in Ink, ungroup. Deselect, then select the top layer and move it aside. Select all and select a fill color so you can see the extras, or change to outline mode so you can see the extra bits. Delete the extra bits.
You could also leave it the way it is, if the grouping doesn't cause misplaced pieces it will just cut the swirls twice.

The preview mode in SCAL shows gray for overlapping lines. That is something I have noticed before. HTH
