If you are having trouble cutting nice clean images with scal, it is because the image itself is not clean.

Well, not always. My lines cut perfectly clean, not a problem there at all. The problem was that the start and ending corner did not meet. All 4 corners in a poster who cut the exact same image appear to meet 100% perfect. How is it that one SCAL cut is 100% perfect by one person and yet another SCAL cut of the exact same image is only 90% of perfect when done by another person? If you are having trouble cutting nice clean images with scal, it is because the image itself is not clean.

I have to say, if it had not been for SCAL I would never have considered the cricut, so PC should be happy that SCAL is available. I am sure I speak for lots of others too. I have never had a problem with SCAL as it only sends info to cut to the circut, just like your computer sends printer info to your printer, the cricut does not hold this in any memory bank, so dont worry about using SCAL. PC should have hired the SCAL people to work for them, that way they wouldnt be losing out on DS money.
I also dont care about the warranty as purchased my cricut from the USA and PC are not too quick at sorting out anything anyway.

Yes, actually there was one person who had to send her Cricut in for warranty information who was also a SCAL user- she did NOT have problems BECAUSE of SCAL. PC didn't ask her if she was using it & she was smart enough not to volunteer the info. Legally, my understanding is that 3rd party software cannot invalidate warranty claims, so my belief is that they are using a scare tactic to try to avoid any problems & discourage use.
