Problem cutting

Post by jmrcmama »

Hi everyone! I am having problems cutting anything, I am using windows 7. I can make my items to cut just fine, my cricrap cuts fine (I tried cutting with a cartiage works great), but I hook the cricut up to the puter (cord also works fine) but it will either come up and say that cricut cannot be found or the cutter screen will come up (the one that has cancel on it) and it just sits there like it is just not responding!! Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Does your computer beep when you connect to the cricut? I had a similar priblem and this is the reply I got from Provocraft - " The first thing I would like you to check is to see if your computer makes a noise when you plug in your Cricut machine. Usually it will make this noise acknowledging that your machine is plugged in. If it does make this noise then I would like you to click on the start button on the bottom left hand side of your screen, then right click on “Computer” then click on manage. Now over on the left had side of the window that just opened you should see “Device Manager” click on that and a list should populate on the right. Now please look for something that says “Unknown Device” if you do see this then right click on it and click uninstall"

You could also try reinstalling your drivers (see tutorial on craftedge.com)

Hope this helps

so what I would be doing is uninstalling my cricut?
Thanks I will try the steps you mentioned, I'm at a loss I don't know what else to do! I have reset the cricut by pressing the red button on the inside, changed cords with one that I knew worked, updated both scal and cricut...
Thanks

I think that is what they were saying. It turned out that my problem was a broken usb socket in the back of my cricut and I needed a new machine. Like you I could use it with cartridges but got the 'Cricut not found' message when hooking up to my computer. My friend has a cricut so we tried hers on my computer and it worked, but when we tried mine on her computer it didn't, so in the end I eliminated it down to a cricut machine fault. Provocraft were very good and replaced my machine.

Hope you find out your problem.
