Looking for a cupcake box/holder

Post by crafty too »

I have tons of wrappers to choose from. This is for my daugthers' birthday. I always work on the decorations and stuff. I think the theme this time will be sweets. I plan to do a table just full of candy so the kids can pick. I would also have to make bags for all kids (that is no problem). I would like to have the cupcakes already in a cutesy set-up. I already did the cupcake stand last year and don't want to repeat myself...lol
I got some at the $ Store and they are cute, but most likely I will need tons plus I want to corrdinate all papers. If I knew how, I would make a pattern of one.
Thanks for your help!

I took apart the box from the $ Store and traced it, taking the papers to scan at my friends and then what is the next step? The box is perfect I wanna make a pattern out of it.
Do I need to use Inkscape to make a file? Can you direct me to find the right tutorial?
Thanks!

No you don't need ink if you save it as a jpeg then you can take it into scal and trace it. There are several file types you can save it as to get it trace in scal but you can see that in the trace drop down menu

I followed your instructions and it partially worked. The cut has too many nodes, when is really just straight lines. How can I clean up the trace? I followed the tutorial but I must be doing something wrong because nothing is happening :(.

You can use the node tool in SCAL2 to select several of the nodes, then use your backspace key to delete them. HTH

I don't know what I keep doing grong. I keep watching the tutorial videos and the nodes don't show on my pattern. I know I have done it before, I keep trying and nothing works :(. Everytime I try the node tool SCAL ends up crashing and that didn't use to happen before. I'll forget about it for a while and then come back later.

I scanned them in 3 parts by dividing the pattern in top and bottom and the inserts. The images have been resized and hope you can help me. Please let me know what I need to do to make this work. I really like it.
Thanks in advance!

Give me a couple of minutes and I will redraw these for you.

Let me know if this works. Not sure if it's to scale or not.
