can never get letters to work from Inkscape to Scal

Post by Mr. Papagiorgio »

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but if I try to make a design like for example, a baseball player
with the name curved on top and team at bottom. What I end up with in SCAL is missing letters and pieces scattered about. :(
I spend too much time trying to even get the name to follow the arc I made, and it doesn't work. Obviously I need to read
some tutorials because I have had this problem when combining words and designs...I don't know what I am missing.
Can anyone check this out and tell me what I am doing wrong before I go crazy?

thanks for any help..
(runs off to read some tutorials)

p.s. It looks ok when I view it in Inkscape...but does not show exactly like that in SCAL

Other than the 5 (which isn't converted to Path) it looks exactly like I would expect from the svg file. Just convert the 5 to Path (Path/Union) and it should work fine unless you are using an older version of SCAL. If you are using SCAL1 you need to ungroup everything. If you are using an older version of SCAL2 you will need to ungroup everything and then use Path/Union. Sometimes that doesn't work either, then you need to copy and paste your work into a new document.

SWEET! Thank you Heather...followed your steps and it looks perfect. I get confused with "group" and "union" kinda thinking it's the same thing.
Now to cut it out, that must be the problem I have faced before when adding text. The designs are usually ok, just the text gets messed up.
That took me one minute to fix as opposed to half an hour trying to figure it out.
:P

btw..I have the older SCAL

(that was a fast response, thanks)
