Need help with my properties box

Post by sewsweet2 »

I've got SCAL 2 and have successfully downloaded some SVGs to Scal and have cut then on the circuit. Several svgs that I have converted in Inkscape are causing me problems. I import the svg to SCAL and my properties box has 10416.6 for the Y and X axis. The W & H has -10416 for those numbers. Nothing I've done will allow me to change the numbers in those boxes. Anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck until I can get the 'Y & X numbers on the mat and get some positive numbers in the W & H. TIA

newbie that is having problems

Are you using Inkscape 0.47? Two things for you to try (in Inkscape) are to copy and paste your artwork into a new file or first make sure that everything is Ungrouped and then use Path/Union. HTH

I have inkscape 4.7 downloaded. I tried to ungroup and then path/union but nothing happened. :( I can't figure how why sometimes the svgs work and sometime they don't. How frustrating.

If you don't use the new features of Ink47 (Path Effect Editor, Modify Path in the Extensions menu) you might want to install and use Inkscape 0.46 instead. It's available here http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/

The general solution for Ink47 files that don't work is to first make sure that there are no Groups, then use Path/Union. If that works, then you can use Group to create layers in SCAL2.

If tPath/Union doesn't work, try copying and pasting into a new doc.

Doing all that will affect the properties box in SCAL? How odd. I'll give it a try tomorrow morning when I'm more awake and can think about what I'm doing. Thanks for being patient with me.

I have the same problem without importing svg's from Inkscape. When I draw a straight line in SCAL2 v 2.010, then try to edit the line, X,Y,W,H values change to 10416.6. The line disappears to the left side of the display and cannot be edited, neither can the values be changed.

I haven't had enough time to experiment yet. I thought maybe my image was saved in too big of a file so it had to go to negative XY axis to download but that doesn't make sense if you aren't importing, just drawing a line and it goes to the 10416.6 number.

Can anybody help us?

Since my last post, I have discovered that the problem exists when the line starting point (x axis) and the ending point (x axis) are identical making the line width 0.00. I have reported this to Craftedge and they are investigating the problem.
