How do I make a shadow of a letter?

I want to make an X and create the letter and the shadow so it is sized correctly. Is there a trick?

It is in the style box (under appearance). SO make your X - then make another one - click on the 2nd one - go to the Style box (under appearance) choose shadow. You can adjust the number to the right to determine how heavy of a shadow you want.
