Hi. I'm new here....loving it so far!! I would like to know how to separate out colors on a picture to cut out the different layers in vinyl. I'm trying to cut out the mascot for my child's school. Any advise would be welcome.
Thanks!!!

Re: Need help
I really wouldn't recommend using that method for this image since it will give you stacked traces with a thin black frame on the top of four other colors. You might try modifying this tutorial to trace each color http://dan99.blogspot.com/2009/01/video ... o-svg.html and then use a basic trace to get the black background.
I played with this image last night and wasn't happy with any of the things that I tried in Inkscape. The image is pretty low resolution with a lot of jpeg artifacts. It would be much better if you had a higher res image.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea where to even start. Very appreciated.
I'll try to get a better picture from school too.

Re: Need help
Ok, I've tried...even got a better pict., but I can't figure out how to do it. I used inkscape and it will break down the hawk into a bunch of different colored hawks, but not into the individual shapes for the colors. Is what I'm wanting even possible? I don't know...
I'll attach the better hawk if there is anyone who could assist me....many thanks!!! This is for a project for my school's silent auction in a few weeks.
