Hello all, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this svg I'm trying to make for a tile.
In Inkscape..it looks the way I want it to be, but in Scal, it doesn't bring all the elements.
I am getting frustrated trying to figure out what is happening, the square border does not show and the flourish is changed.
Can anyone fix this for me please?
Sorry if examples are too big....but I am lost on this.
thanks..
*EDIT..earlier the border was not transferring over, now it has but the + won't and the whole thing is apart and angled.
How do you make it look like Inkscape?
I use Scal 1, btw.

Re: need help with a file please
Open your file in Inkscape. Use Control A, then look at the message bar at the bottom of the Inkscape window. Look for "Group". If that is listed, you need to Object/Ungroup (or right click Ungroup). Use Control A again to make sure that there are no more groups. Repeat Ungroup if necessary. SCAL1 does not like groups and will distort/misplace grouped vectors.
If you are using Inkscape 0.47 there are also a couple of extra steps you will need. Text is automatically Grouped when converted to Path, so ungroup it, then Use Path/Union. The Celtic knots will also need Path/Union if you haven't already.

I have never heard the name Gamaliel before. How do you pronounce it?

Re: need help with a file please
lol...I tried that but I must have something wrong happening.
I think I need to start from scratch because I had multiple versions saved and I can't seem to get this to look just like inkscape shows.
Maybe I need to do the name separate from the border and the vine. Keep coming back with frame missing or vine misaligned.
btw, I have never heard that name b4, but it's pronounced gama lee el ......
I give up, time for a different project.
Thanks for your help Heather, I'm sure I am not following something correctly.

Re: need help with a file please
Are you importing the corner knots? If you are, then Inkscape automatically will group them and they need to be ungrouped, then use Path/Union. Watch your message bar at the bottom of the Ink window. It will tell you what you are working with, and if something doesn't work right it will tell you why. You must ungroup before you can use any of the Path operations on shapes or vectors.
One of the new quirks with Ink47 is that all vectors must have either Path/Union or one of the other Path operations in that same section (Path/Difference, Path/Exclusion) used on it for SCAL to import the file correctly.

Well, I checked the file...I'm still using Ink .46 but you had a ton of grouped items and that appeared to be displacing things...see if this file will work for you...

The only place I've ever seen that name is in the Bible...Gamaliel was a Pharisee who taught the apostle Paul. He was mentioned twice in the book of Acts (looked it up to be sure!)talanhart wrote:I have never heard the name Gamaliel before. How do you pronounce it?
