applying delicate cut images

I am trying to put together a picture frame using vinyl lettering. I have cut out the word Family from a fancy script font, with a small ivy flourish at the bottom. My only problem is that the image is so very delicate that I am wondering now the best to transfer this image to a piece of matboard. Does anyone know? I am thinking transfer tape, but I am not sure how it will affect the mat board. HELP PLEASE! THIS IS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT! AND I AM STUCK!

transfer tape will not harm mat board. contact paper or another substitute migh. you would have to test it.
