disgusting filth i had to come across

Post by Jennifer »

I am disgusted when i just went online to check out new ideas and designs, just to find a bunch of subjects of sex and filth, how did this happen and who has the nerve to put this on a craft website. I am so upset by this. Thank god my daughters werent in the room. They like to see some of the designs i look at. Now i have to make sure there is no filth first.

I hope someone informs the Authorities on this!!!!

There's more, under "designs". They just sneak in everywhere. If only they knew, we're so happy crafting, they're wasting their time here.....

I wonder if Craft Edge will have to limit the forum only to people who have purchased SCAL? That might stop the porn spam on the forum but would limit non scal users from posting. so that would make the non scal users unhappy. Are there any other options out there to stop this? It really is getting bad.

I think you're right about having to better monitor who can join; if they didn't want to limit it to SCAL purchasers, couldn't they do something like many Yahoo groups do and have you fill out a brief questionairre re: yourself and have to wait for a moderator to send you an approval email that you have to reply to in order to join? People joining would understand the day or 2 wait to be able to post (they can always read still).

If people have to click and reply to an email link in order to join, then their computer's ID would be 'traceable' and a lot of those porn guys wouldn't think it's worth the risk and effort!

Also, the Cricut board monitors 'bad words' and blocks them... you even if you want to say 'assume' in a post, it blocks it because the first 3 letters are 'bad', so posters just got used to having to call it 'as*ume' etc.

This lack of security makes it easier for them to hack in and do potentially dangerous things to the site or our Pc's; so I sure hope I don't get concerned enough to take a 'vacation' from the board!

I don't know about you, but all of the sudden for about a week I've been getting some filth and ads about Acai Berry come through my private email; so someone somewhere 'sold' my email address recently and I'm very careful to delete my history and turn the browser off before switching websites, and never give out personal email addressses unless I'm ordering at Amazon, etc.

Sorry to vent so long!

Do your friends ever send you e-mail? Do they put your e-mail address in the To: or CC: box? If so, then your address can be harvested by anyone who has the know-how and ambition to do it. Spammers just love it when people forward stupid jokes and cutsie stories to everyone in their address book and put the addresses out there in the wide open. I'd say in this day and age, spam is inevitable. Get a good spam filter or use a web-based service like gmail that has amazing spam filtering already and then you can also set up your own filters.
