I need help please with some files

Hi,
I don't know that much about SCAL but was wondering if you have a file thats already to be cut but you only want one little piece of it, can you just fix or cut out the one section you won't instead of cutting the whole file. I have some butterflys on a cut file and only want one of the butterflies to cut to overlay....

I think you have to work in inscape to isolate the one butterfly using ungroup....Someone else I am sure can help. I did it once or twice but don't remember how. I think it was using ungroup or path.....
