MANIPULATING OBJECT ON MAT

Post by njelsmom »

I have typed in the word 'Cherished' -- using individual letters and not a complete block of letters.

I have them welded. I even cut them out once.

However - what I want is to make them all ONE piece and then stretch it to resize the entire object.

When I click the letters and do the 'alt/shift' thing that connects things in WORD, etc. It doesn't do it. Is that a possibility in SCAL?

Help??

as long as your entire word is selected (has a box around the entire word) you can use the various handles to stretch/enlarge it. THe bottom right arrow keeps it in proportion, and the other various arrows let you widen/squeeze, or make taller/shorter.

I guess that's where my question lies.

How do I GROUP the letters together into ONE item so they can all be resized at the same time.

Sorry I posted this topic in the wrong spot - I'll learn!

You have to type them all together in the same box in SCAL. Even then, when you resize, the spacing doesn't usually resize the same as the letters so that you will probably need to adjust the spacing again. One of the reasons why I started using Inkscape. HTH

Whenever I try to rotate something on the mat, it spins out of control. Why does it do that?

If you have SCAL 2, holding down your shift key while rotating helps. You might want to "try" that with the earlier version.
